October 7th, 2007

SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the availability of the newest version of SAP® Discovery system for enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA), a complete learning and testing environment designed to offer customers and partners the opportunity to test-drive and experience the power of enterprise SOA in a familiar landscape. First launched in 2006, the system provides companies with the opportunity to experiment with enterprise SOA by prototyping service-enabled composite applications specific to their business without disrupting existing productive systems. More than 400 companies have taken advantage of the low-cost testing environment in just 12 months, accelerating their transition to enterprise SOA with a hands-on learning experience. Today’s release of the latest version of SAP Discovery system includes refinements based on feedback from customers and contains the latest SAP software and tools as well as business and industry scenarios for banking, telecommunications and public sector. The announcement was made at SAP® TechEd ’07, being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, Oct. 1 - 5, 2007.

Customers Demonstrate Benefits of SAP Discovery System
Companies around the world are using SAP Discovery system to systematically walk through different business scenarios to demonstrate the power of how enterprise SOA can be harnessed for designing fluid and effective business solutions. For many, SAP Discovery system has helped serve as a knowledge platform for their SAP project teams, helping them to understand the technical aspects required to design and develop business solutions for enterprise SOA.

Pre-configured with the latest version of SAP® ERP, the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform and a Max DB database, SAP Discovery system features a composite development toolbox providing customers with the opportunity to explore the latest SAP software in an environment mimicking their specific businesses. New SAP enhancement packages for SAP ERP are also included with all new functional enhancements to SAP ERP available as extensions, a new approach to enable customers to easily adopt ongoing innovations while maintaining the stability they require with their core business systems.

Tesoro Companies Inc., a leading independent refiner and marketer of petroleum products, has been using SAP Discovery system to explore benefits it could achieve by upgrading to SAP ERP. Using the system as a testing environment, Tesoro was able to explore a number of new SAP technologies including SAP NetWeaver to mimic the company’s production landscape quickly and cost-effectively.

“Using SAP Discovery system for enterprise SOA, we were able to accelerate our upgrade impact analysis project with its comprehensive pre-built SAP ERP and SAP NetWeaver environment,” said Michiel Espach, chief information officer, Tesoro Companies Inc. “We completed the upgrade research within 45 days – a fraction of the time and associated costs we would otherwise have spent.”

Additional Features in SAP Discovery System
